(HUFFINGTON POST) - After machine gun fire claimed Hilbert Potter's leg during Operation Desert Storm, he learned to walk again with the help of a prosthetic leg and a devoted physical therapist. His experience inspired him to want to help other amputees learn to walk, so that their disabilities would not hold them back from leading a normal life.
Potter now works with the Kentucky Orthopedic Rehab team, with which he founded the LEAP program, helping disabled people like himself re-learn to walk.
