IOM Gulf War Chronic Multisymptom Illness Treatments Committee to Meet Feb. 29

INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE INSTITUTE OF MEDICINE

The Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) Committee on Gulf War and Health: Treatment of Chronic Multisymptom Illness will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, from 10:00 A.M. to 4:15 P.M. EST in room 101 at the Keck Center of the National Academies. The Keck Center is located at 500 5th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001.

This meeting is one of the mechanisms that the committee is using to gather information related to its charge. The committee is comprehensively evaluating available information regarding the best treatments for chronic multisymptom illness among Gulf War Veterans. For more information, please refer to our Activity Page on the IOM website.

The meeting will consist of a series of presentations from physicians and researchers on a variety of treatment-related topics.  For a complete agenda, please visit our Meeting Page on the IOM website.

An open microphone session is planned for the last half hour of the meeting. Members of the public will have an opportunity to address the committee. We have to limit each person’s speaking time to five minutes due to time constraints and in the interest of allowing as many people to speak as possible. Please let us know in advance if you wish to address the committee during this session. You also are welcome to submit written comments to the committee at any time.

Please let us know in advance if you plan to attend the meeting.  RSVP to Jonathan Schmelzer (jschmelzer@nas.edu). Or register online by going to the Meeting Page and clicking the meeting registration link on the right-hand side of the page.

If you are not able to attend in person, you may call in to the meeting.  Please contact Jonathan Schmelzer (jschmelzer@nas.edu) for the toll-free number.
