Gold Star Mothers Respond to Wis. National Guard Funeral Honors Disgrace
Many of us by now have seen this viral photo of disgraceful behavior from an entire class of military funeral honors graduates in the Wisconsin National Guard. The exceptionally well-written post below includes an extremely powerful response from Gold Star mothers -- mothers whose son or daughter was killed in combat. If you don't understand why this is a problem, then read their letter.
LETTER FROM GOLD STAR MOTHERS
I hope National Guard Bureau Chief General Frank Grass, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, and Wis. National Guard Adjutant General Donald Dunbar take swift disciplinary action to correct this unacceptable climate and culture of dishonor, disrespect, and lack of accountability.

UPDATE:
According to an AP release, Gen. Frank J. Grass, head of the National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C., said Wednesday [Feb. 19, 2014] he ordered the investigation to what he called a "disgraceful incident."
"This image is in very poor taste and clearly does not represent the values of the National Guard," he said in a statement. "I am confident the Army National Guard will quickly resolve this matter and take swift and appropriate action. Funeral duties are sacred and America's fallen deserve nothing less than our deepest respect."
